Planty Park is one of the largest city parks in Poland. It covers about 52 acres and extends for 2.5 miles around Krakow's historic centre. It was created in the early 19th century when the defensive fortifications that surrounded Krakow since the Middle Ages had become outdated, and the city decided to demolish them. Between 1820–1830, instead of building new structures, city planners turned the area into a public park, known as Planty. Since then, Planty has been a beloved urban green space, providing a peaceful retreat in the middle of the city. This scenic park is a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike, offering walking paths, fountains, sculptures, and peaceful gardens in the heart of the city.
Planty Park is divided into eight gardens, each with its own distinct style. In the spring and summer months, visitors are treated to colourful flowers and trees in bloom creating a beautiful addition to any walk around the city..
