What makes this tour special

Your expert guide will pick you up from York at 9.30 in your private vehicle and from there to the first stop on the Yorkshire Moors where your adventure starts

You will experience the Mallyan Spout Waterfall, which at over 60 feet, is the tallest waterfall on the North York Moors. There is also evidence of the Roman army on Wheeldale Moor, the location of one of the best-preserved Roman roads in England.

Surrounded by an abundance of crosses, stones, and ancient monuments side by side, countless tales of thieves, rogues, and smugglers making for one of the most intriguing walking locations within the National Park. Situated on the popular North York Moors railway line with its magnificent steam engines, Goathland station was also used by
Warner Brothers as the setting for Hogsmeade Station in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone.

But for 18 years this beautiful part of the North York Moors was known to millions as Aidensfield, so take a step
back in time and visit Scripp’s Garage and the Aidensfield Store before retiring to the Inn on the Moor for well-deserved refreshment The walks start at 11.00 am and would normally take about 4 1/2 hours before
arriving back at the Inn.

This is a gentle walk but walking shoes/boots would be recommended or at the very least training shoes. Depending on the weather a waterproof and hat are also essential for individual comfort.

What you'll see

Mallyan Spout Waterfall
The waterfall is located in the village of Goathland and has a vertical drop of 70 feet. The water finds its route downhill until it has nowhere to go but over the edge of Mallyan Spout, creating a beautiful, natural setting among the eroded cliffs and riverbank.
Wheeldale Roman Road
An enigmatic mile-long stretch of an ancient road amid wild and beautiful moorland which still has its hardcore and drainage ditches.
Goathland Station
A beautiful village station and attraction in its own right, but Goathland’s claim to fame is definitely its appearance as Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone'.
