The Temple Church, located in London, is steeped in the history of Christendom, the United Kingdom and the whole Common Law World. It was built to be London’s Jerusalem in 1162 and played host to the Magna Carta negotiations in 1214–19.
It is also the burial place of one of the greatest heroes of that document, who was buried there in 1219.
The Temple Church has been responsible for some of the most important legal developments in history: Raleigh's expeditions through colonial constitutions to the American Declaration of Independence and Constitution were all born here.
And today? The Temple serves London’s legal colleges Inner and Middle Temple, along with residents, visiting jurists and travellers from all over the world with some of the most uplifting services, music and discussions in London.
