As the capital of the Highlands, Inverness is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful scenery and enjoys incredible views from Castle Hill over the city, the River Ness, and surrounding hills. Inverness (which means the mouth of the Ness) is famous for being the home of the Fraser and McKenzie clans and is situated not far from Culloden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites were infamously defeated by the English.
