Prosecco wineries in Valdobbiadene

Valdobbiadene is renowned for exceptional Prosecco & contains a myriad of wineries where you can take a tour and enjoy tastings just an hour's drive from Venice

Valdobbiadene is a beautiful and renowned wine-producing region in Italy, located in the Veneto region in the northeastern part of the country. The area is known especially for its high-quality Prosecco and is part of the larger Prosecco DOCG (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) zone which is recognized as one of Italy’s top wine appellations. Valdobbiadene has almost 200 wineries dedicated to producing Prosecco Superiore DOCG. These wineries range from small, family-owned vineyards that have been passed down through generations to larger, more established producers with expansive operations.

The surrounding Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area has approximately 3,000 hectares of vineyards, most of which are focused on producing the Glera grape variety which is essential for Prosecco production. This entire region is divided into small plots, as many wineries are situated on steep hillsides, where vineyard work is labour-intensive and largely done by hand. The high density of wineries, combined with the picturesque landscape, makes Valdobbiadene a major destination for wine tourism, offering diverse tasting experiences across traditional and modern styles of Prosecco. At around an hour's drive north of Venice, it makes for a wonderful wine excursion for wine enthusiasts visiting the Floating City.
