Sameba Cathedral, is one of the most impressive and significant religious buildings in Tbilisi, Georgia. Situated on Elia Hill in the Avlabari district, the cathedral dominates the skyline of the city and is visible from many parts of Tbilisi. 

The construction of Sameba Cathedral began in 1995 and was completed in 2004. It was built to commemorate the 2000th anniversary of Christianity and the 1500th anniversary of the Georgian Orthodox Church's autocephaly. Sameba Cathedral is a powerful symbol of the revival of the Georgian Orthodox Church after the end of Soviet rule, during which religious practice was severely restricted.
