Private Outlander Excursion from Edinburgh
Take a mystical journey into 18th century Scotland on this private excursion based on the popular television series, Outlander.
During your private 8-hour excursion, you will:
- Be picked up by your private driver guide at a pre-arranged location in Edinburgh. Visit Culross, one of Scotland’s most picturesque towns, and known as Crainesmuir in the Outlander series. Delight in its whitewashed, red-tiled buildings, and learn of its history dating back to the 16th century.
- Stop for a filling lunch in the town of Falkland around midday. This area was filmed as the town of Inverness in several Outlander episodes. (Cost of lunch not included)
- Tour Linlithgow Palace, known to ‘Outlanders’ as Wentworth Prison. This is also the birthplace of the real-life Mary Queen of Scots in 1542. (Entrance fee is included)
- See Blackness Castle, known in Outlander as Fort William. As one of Scotland’s most impressive strongholds, this stunning castle was built in the 15th century by the powerful Chrichton family.
- Visit Midhope Castle, known to Outlander fans as Lallybroch, the home of Jamie. You will explore the land surrounding it, as the castle itself is in ruins, so you will not be able to tour inside.
- Return to Edinburgh by your private driver.
Walk with main characters Claire and Jamie (in spirit) as you tour several stunning locations and visit some of the major attractions for the filming of Outlander. Not only will you be experiencing the stunning beauty of Scotland, you will step back in time as you relive the intrigue and drama of scenes from the show. This section of Scotland also inspired the writer Diana Gabaldon, whose books inspired the series. If you are not already a fan of Outlander, this tour will no doubt convert you!
Your expert driver guide will whisk you into the land of Outlander and provide commentary on each and every stop along the way. Entrance fees into Linlithgow Palace are included in the price of this tour, however, the cost of lunch is not. As you will be spending some time outside, and the weather in Scotland can change quickly, please bring a raincoat with hood as appropriate. Also, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. And don’t forget your camera!
Please note: Midhope Castle is a private estate, and occasionally access is denied to visitors outside of our control, usually due to safety concerns of its ruinous condition.
