What makes this tour special
Set off with your guide to the charming delta town of Cai Be, which is famous for its rustic floating communities. On your way to the delta region, you can stop for a stretch and wander at a local Cao Dai Temple. Here you will be able to learn more about a religion which blends Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and a bit of Christianity.
A short trip by car takes you to Cai Be’s floating markets. After stepping into a boat, you will float past a mass of rickety river vessels where water-bound locals spend much of their time between fishing and selling their wares on land. Though the floating market here is not nearly as busy as day’s past, you might still spot locals tossing water-melons or pineapples between their boats! Continue onward through a maze of narrow canals, leading to a traditional net rice paper maker. Here can show you first-hand how they create their Vietnamese culinary staple.
You will then go with your guide around the village, stopping to meet a family who use coconut leaves to thatch house roofs. You will also be introduced to their neighbors who weave intricate hyacinth products. Then take a sampan to enjoy the charming Mekong scenery before enjoying a late lunch in a local house. For a special twist, watch a demonstration of how to make a favorite Vietnamese specialty - banh xeo, or a Vietnamese savoury pancake! Your tour ends with a gentle ride aboard the boat back to Cai Be and your onward drive to Ho Chi Minh City.
